MILLAIS STREET GREY LYNN

The project

This 100 year old villa was to be modernised, but keeping its character and history in clever tones and features. Our client had a vision, saw its potential and it was easily communicated with us. We worked together and bounced ideas around to achieve a superb result that is world class.

The challenge

Part of our challenge was to keep the older features cleverly intertwined into the modern features of this house. The ceilings, the fireplace and hallways demanded that history still resided in this restored villa. Window sashes were repaired by our builder who specializes in old windows. He lovingly repaired each one so that they work well and easily.

We added a new bathroom, modernised the kitchen, and open plan entertainment area with a gorgeous indoor/outdoor flow.

A secret study is cleverly installed by a moving art wall mural. This adds movement, a surprise and also hides the technology and workspace when entertaining guests.

The end result

The resulting design maintained four bedrooms, three bathrooms, and enhanced flow throughout the home, focusing on indoor-outdoor living. The spa pool at the back along with the gorgeous deck allow peace and tranquility all year round. This is a new, fresh oasis with 100 year old bones in the heart of Auckland.
